'he is my voice' is fiction, not John's words!!!!!
John did not visit Freddie during his illness for unknown reasons.
John's retirement not only because of Freddie's death, but also his family, and he loves a peaceful life by nature, etc. For example, during the recording of Innuendo, he spent a lot of time with his family and was often absent. The death of Freddie is just one factor. I respect and feel grateful to both of their families.
'he is my voice'是同人文内容,不是炯本人说的。

letter from John Deacon in the summer 1975
Hello everybody,
This is your friendly bass player here! We seem to have been away for ages so I hope you havn't forgotten us!
We saw the whole of America this time from New York to Los Angeles which was quite an experience. It was a shame we missed a few gigs but Freddie's voice managed the rest of the American tour O.K. and after our rest in Hawaii, he was in great form in Japan.
We had all been looking forward to going to Japan for a long while, but we never expected such a great welcome. We were all knocked out by the warmth and friendship of the Japanese people and fascinated by their lifestyle.
There of the pictures in this Newsletter were taken in Japan, one is of us taking part in an ancient Japanese Tea Ceremony whore we were served by four beautiful Japanese girls in Kimonos. Freddie wasn't as bored as he looks, but Roger, Brian and I did learn to hold the cups Japanese style!
The other two were taken when Freddie and I visited Nagoya Castle, where we met some very inquisitive Japanese schoolchildren, In the shot with the castle, you may just be able to see Freddie and I in the backgroud as the children couldn't wait to get in on our photos!!!
Anyway it's great to be back home after three months. We'll soon be working on our next album, which I'm sure you're looking forward to, so I hope it doesn't take too long!!

John's Letter to the Queen Fanclub, 1984
Hi there, hope you are all well and thanks to all of you who come to see us on our European tour. We're in Frankfurt at the moment with only more shows to go.
Freddie damaged his leg again on stage in Hannover and we had cut to the show short. He bravely finished up the set sitting at the piano as he couldn't walk. Luckily we had a physiotherapist with us and Freddie is well enough to carry on.
We only have a few days break before we go to Sun City in South Africa , apparently we are enormously popular there!
Freddie goes back into studio in November to finish his solo album and in January we are planning a big festival called "Rock In Rio" in Brazil . We may carry on touring after that on start making plans for our next album!
We'll keep you informed.
Bye for now , all the best.

letter from John Deacon in April 1999
Dear all,I hope you are all well.
Yesterday evening I was watching "We Will Rock You" on VH1's King and Queen day and it reminded me of how hard the four of us worked to entertain you all.
This was pre-keyboard player days and the four of us created a full sound with lots of light and shade. It was nice to see Freddie looking shin(thin?) and fit and able to wear just a pair of shorts! It was recorded 18 years ago and we all looked young!

Freddie's Letter to the Queen Fanclub 1981(?)
Hello there -
I' m writing to you from my bed because I can' t be bothered to get up today as it is raining buckets outside, and to be honest I' m suffering from a humongous hangover!
I have taken up a bad habit (smoking) - because everyone around us has constantly been smoking for the last few years - so as John would say, 'If You Can' t Beat ' Em - Join Them' - People say it will affect my voice but that' s a load of bull!
I hope to be in fighting form for the next album while we begin recording at the end of Jazz '81 in Munich.
By the way hope you all enjoyed Roger's solo effort as well as I did-
O.K. It's time I awoke out of bed- and keeps hopping for some sunny weather-

【met the band members for the first time at one seventh of the book】Freddie would work on Queen albums in both London and Munich, and it was during one of what were to be many sessions that I met the members of the band for the first time: guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor and bassist John Deacon. They were immediately very friendly and struck me as down-to-earth. Roger had run a stall at Kensington Market with Freddie years earlier and they were clearly soulmates; they’d often sit together, giggling. Brian was very intellectual and meticulous about his music. But it was John Deacon I took to most. He was the silent member of the group – remarkably modest, quiet and unassuming. He and Freddie were the most closely involved in the business side of Queen when they started out, and John had doubled as the band’s accountant. Later, their success wildly escalated the demands of the job. His running gag was: ‘I’m only the bass player.’
【at half of the book】On the day of the party, as we lounged around the pool at Pike’s, John Deacon came to me. It was clear that Freddie was no longer able to hide the fact that he was becoming seriously ill. John had noticed some marks on Freddie’s leg, the only clue betraying his condition. John directly but discreetly asked me what they were. I passed them off as nothing of importance. ‘He’s allergic to the sun,’ I said, ‘they’re sunspots.’ It was left at that. I put a brave face on it and hid my feelings so that John would not suspect that something was wrong. From that birthday, I knew I was entering my final few years with Freddie.
【at the end of the book】Finally, I wouldn’t let other people walk all over me the way they did. All the time Freddie and I had our loving friendship I lived with certain people who dismissed me as ‘just the gardener’. The same people always introduced me to Freddie’s friends as his gardener. Freddie would never do such a cruel thing to me. I feel a lot of sympathy for the modesty of John Deacon, who would declare: ‘I’m only the bass player.’

Reinhold Mack, also known as Mack, is a German record producer and sound engineer, mostly known for his collaborations with rock bands Electric Light Orchestra and Queen. In 1981 the Queen album The Game brought Mack and the band a Grammy Award nomination for Producer of the Year (Non-Classical).
Mack's third son, John Frederick Mack, was named by Freddie Mercury and was a godson of both Mercury and Queen bass guitarist John Deacon.

BEING ‘LITTLE FREDDIE’ – FREDDIE MACK ON BEING THE GODSON OF HISTORY’S GREATEST FRONTMAN [ interview ]
Cat on the Wall: Hello there, Mr. Mack! A pleasure to have you with us again, although for quite different reasons. How are you today?
Freddie Mack: I’m doing pretty bloody fantastic, thanks! The sun was out today, which can only mean one thing in Munich… Beer garden time! Pardon me if I slur… but the Hefeweizen treated me well today!
......
COTW: The story of how you came to be Mr. Mercury’s godson is one that’s familiar to German press – but to British readers is likely to be relatively unknown – to even the most devout of Queen fans. Would you care to retell the tale?
FM: Well, sure! Why not! Since it’s you who asked!
As I mentioned – he became very close to my parents. I think, besides the fact that my folks are just the most awesome people, Freddie really liked the whole family vibe, y’know…I think him being out and about, partying at clubs and such was a lot of fun, but I think he also appreciated the times he could lie low and relax, and be himself. I don’t think he got to do that very often, but around my family he had the opportunity to. And kind of became extended family.. My mother never says- your godfather said so and so.. its always- your uncle said this or did that. Uncle Freddie. My uncle Freddie!
In 1981, Queen was in the studio recording Hot Space..and it just took forever. Somewhere in that time my mother was pregnant with me, yet there was still no end in sight of this album.
To the point where my mom said “I think it’s easier to be pregnant for 9 months and give birth than getting this album done“! Then, she added a stipulation… a gentleman’s bet if you will!
“If I have my child before the album is finished then everyone in the band can be my son’s godfather!” The album took longer, and it was done.
However, I think Freddie told my mother it would just be silly for her son to have 4 godfathers. What’s more, my mother asking Freddie and John to be my godfathers was done on a very personal level and much more formally, than simply saying “well, a bet is a bet!”
Both Freddie and John were very close with my family. I believe John even baby sat my brothers and later me as well, so it was an obvious choice to ask them to be my godfathers…and both agreed..as we all know by now!
.......
COTW: A lot of press, of course, covers your relationship with Freddie, but far less is said about John Deacon, your second godfather! Was your relationship as close to him as it was to Mercury?
FM: I’m told it was, and I remember things here and there. Obviously, he must have been close – otherwise my folks wouldn’t have asked him to be my godfather! As I mentioned earlier, he baby sat on occasion, I remember the Deacons going to Dinner with us, and a few other joint family events… those Deacon and Mack outings are what I remember the most.
I think it’s a shame that we lost touch, but I know that Freddie’s death was very hard on him, and I very much respect the fact that he decided to leave the spotlight and everything Queen related after that. Sorry Adam Lambert/Queen fans, but I think there is no Queen without Freddie… and in my humble opinion, there shouldn’t be, either.
I tried to get back in touch with John when I was about 20 or so. Basically, around the time i started Liquid Meat, and decided I wanted to be a musician. I started out playing bass, so, of course, it would have been awesome to pick his brain a bit… But, it wasn’t meant to be. Hopefully, I’ll have the chance to get back in touch with him. I’d like that a lot.

In his interview, Mr Freestone mentioned John (extract from BrianMay.com):
ST: What do you think of John's decision not to play on the current tour... I suppose, really everyone has a comment on it...
PF: Well really that is his decision which I respect...but what I think a lot of people don't realise is how hard Freddie's death hit John...
ST: And, from a fans point of view, it seems that John and Freddie were quite close as were Brian and Roger...
PF: Yes yes they were... In the beginning Freddie just took John under his arm... He didn't want anything to happen to him... And as it's already be said elsewhere Freddie WAS going to be a star regardless... That was a given...And he just wanted to protect John from the extremes he was getting himself into...and they were very good friends...
ST: But it must also be a big decision for someone that has been on the world stage for so long to say "Right that's it...no more!"
PF: Yes indeed but I think it's a decision that needs respecting...
ST: Ohh definitely...
PF: But like I say I think Freddie's death has really affected John...Well the way I see it... But I could be very wrong... But Queen were 4 people...And one of them has gone and is never coming back... It will never be the same and maybe that's what John liked...He liked that formula of the four of them...I mean to the best of my knowledge he is still involved in the decision making and the behind the scenes aspects and all that sort of thing...I just don't think his heart is in the music at the moment...Maybe he will come back......Who knows! ... And I respect him for that and as long as he is happy...
ST: Couldn't agree more
PF: And one thing Freddie proved, to me, is that you have to enjoy your life...because you never know how long you've got... Nobody knows how long you've got.And I certainly don't know what I will be doing in five years time...Who knows!

02:'Mister Mercury' by Peter Freestone with David Evans
John was always John. Freddie knew John was like the proverbial rock and could always be relied on.-- page 80.
Freddie would sit, accompanied by John Deacon, with a cigarette in his hand, playing with it to disguise his nervousness and to give his expressive hands something to do and allow the less reticent Brian and Roger to do all the chatting, making only occasional interjections. He knew he was expected to involve himself in the talking but did so as little as little as possible although he always knew that it was important for him to be seen to say something.-- p46(1982, South America)
This album also furnished another of the band's crowd-pleasing anthems, namely FRIENDS WILL BE FRIENDS. The co-composition credit on this track and on PAIN IS SO CLOSE TO PLEASURE was merely because John Deacon insisted that Freddie's contribution be recognised and acknowledged. John's honesty and integrity would not have allowed him to do otherwise.-- p96(about "A Kind Of Magic")
In my time with Freddie, he always had a very good working relationship with John Deacon but it never seemed to follow on in their personal, offstage relationship perhaps because of John's family commitments and family life being miles apart from Freddie's idea of a social life. I do know that Freddie had a lot of respect and was very fond of John. --p219

FRIENDS WILL
BE FRIENDS》。他们的名字一起出现在《PAIN IS SO CLOSE TO

18 January Marries Veronica at Carmelite Church in Kensington Church Street, London. The Best Man at his wedding is Nigel Bullen. Robbie was to take Freddie's place with John, Roger Taylor and Brian May to record a special version of the classic hit We Are The Champions.
But John refused because he thought Robbie ruined the song and could never replace Freddie, who died in 1991.
Instead just Robbie, Roger and Brian recorded the track - a No2 hit for Queen in 1977 - at a secret location in Surrey for the soundtrack of new movie A Knight's Tale.
John says: "Roger and Brian got together to do the song with Robbie Williams but I told them I had retired.
"I didn't want to be involved with it and I'm glad. I've heard what they did and it's rubbish.
"It is one of the greatest songs ever written but I think they've ruined it. I don't want to be nasty but let's just say Robbie Williams is no Freddie Mercury. Freddie can never be replaced - and certainly not by him."

Interview with Kenny Everett 1976: Freddie commented on You and I
"That's the end of side one of "A Day At The Races". That was a track by John Deacon, he's contribution to this album. His songs are good and are getting better every time actually. I'm getting a bit worried actually. He's sort of quiet, lots of people think that. Don't underestimate him, he's got a fiery streak underneath all that. I talk so much anyway, he like to let me do all the talking. But once people crack that thin ice, then he's alright. (You can never stop him talking then)."

这是A day at the

Freddie commented on You're my best friend
"I'm very pleased with that actually. John has really come into his own. Brian May and myself have mostly written all the songs before, and he's been in the background; he's worked very hard, and his song's very good, isn't it? It's nice. It even adds to the versatility, y'know what I mean. It's nice that four people can write and they're all strong, 'cos y'know, if John or anyone else wrote a song that we thought was weak, it would never be on the album. So he has had to work really hard on it to keep up the standard." (radio interview, 1976)*from Jazz Web

"The Miracle"
"Rain Must Fall"
"My Baby Does Me"
John"(to Freddie)You came up with the bass line."
Freddie"No, it was you."
John"No, YOU came up!"
Freddie "(laugh) Anyway, John and myself create the line."
"Was It All Worth It"
MT : You are the only one of the band who hasn't yet done a solo album.
John Deacon : No cause I can't sing.
MT : (laughter) Are you sure?
John Deacon :Yes, yes it's pretty bad, but I might have singing lessons one day.
MT : Is that sort of a void in your career? Do you wish you had done that?
John Deacon : Yes. Of course I do it's awful it's like being in a wheelchair in a way because you can't actually express yourself in the way that you'd like to. If I could sing it would be lovely. No, it's a handicap, a great handicap, in terms of writing songs. I wish I could but I can't.
MT : When you write a song and do a demo?
John Deacon : Well..mainly you see l've worked with Freddie most of my career and he's very good, because l'll come up with certain ideas and he just improves on them, and I haven't worked with any, many other singers really.

【I forgot the source!!! It was marked that come from Mack2020, but where is the detail? Is this a fake story? But the John Deacon Fanpage on Twitter has post part of this...】
Reinhold Mack, 2000.
John was an enigma though. When Brian wrote we knew because he went from a side to another with a notebook and singing us the choruses or telling us his ideas. When John Deacon wrote, we could tell because he hardly talked. He just stayed quiet for a long time, sitting in a chair and drinking tea and soda.
I remember once Roger arrived joking around to a living room we had in the studio.
There was an absolute silent until Roger came in yelling
'but what? whose's the funeral?',
and Freddie whispered to him
'shhhhh, John is creating'.
I think it was Fred who came up with the nickname of ostrich. Because John was like a bird, who stays quiet until it finally puts a perfect egg. John was that way, he handled the sheets to the others fully finished, although in the end everybody added something to improve the song.

"He(Freddie) would certainly fight for things he believed in, like 'Another One Bites the Dust', which was a bit of a departure for Queen. Roger, at the time, certainly felt that it wasn't rock and roll and was quite angry at the way that was going. And Freddie said, "Darling, leave it to me. I believe in this." John had written the song. But it took Freddie's support to make it happen." (Brian May, Guitar World, 1998)
John Deacon, being totally in his own world, came up with this thing, which was nothing like what we were doing...
Roger did a loop, kind of under protest, because he didn't like the sound of the drums recorded that way. And then Deaky put this groove down. Immediately Freddie became violently enthusiastic and said, 'This is big! This is important! I'm going to spend a lot of time on this. "
I mean, I remember Deacy having this idea, but Deacy doesn't sing of course, so he was trying to suggest to Freddie how it should be and Fred just went in there and hammered and hammered until his throat bled, making... you know, he really was inspired by it and took it to a new height, I think.
